ABOUT: Trauma Center trauma-sensitive yoga (TCTSY) presents opportunities for empowerment through invitational language and choice-making. During practice, you’ll be invited to notice body sensations and choose ways of moving, breathing, and pausing that feel supportive to you. You may find that practicing in this embodied way helps you strengthen your connection to your body and build a sense of self-efficacy.
Practice is mat-based, and no yoga experience is necessary. TCTSY is an evidence-based, adjunctive clinical intervention for complex trauma and chronic, treatment-resistant post-traumatic stress. The practice is also suitable for individuals experiencing anxiety, chronic stress, and other mental health conditions, or for individuals looking to strengthen their relationship with their body. You will not be asked or expected to talk about your trauma/mental health history as part of TCTSY. More information about TCTSY is available here.
Individuals who have been hospitalized for psychiatric care in the last six months are advised to wait until the six-month period is complete to join group classes.
SLIDING SCALE: $10 - $14 USD per class.
You are invited to reflect on your access to resources due to COVID-19 and/or forms of intersectional oppression, and to make an investment that feels accessible to you. Payment is accepted through Venmo, Zelle, and Paypal.
REGISTRATION: Preregistration is required 24 hours prior to each class. Please email Dawn to register, or for more information. As part of registration, you will be emailed an informed consent form.
LOCATION : All sessions will be held live on Zoom. Sessions will be recorded, but will only show the facilitator (Dawn). Participants are welcome to attend live and/or access the recording for one week following class.
